CBAW at the 5th Annual Equity, Inclusion, and Justice Summit!
On Tuesday, October 29th, Community Building Art Works had the honor of participating in the Minority Veterans of America’s 5th Annual Equity, Inclusion, and Justice Summit. This year’s theme, “Our Future in Full Color,” truly resonated with our mission and values.
One of the highlights of our involvement was a beautiful virtual workshop on gratitude mandalas, led by the talented Valerie Acosta. Valerie’s session was a heartfelt exploration of gratitude through art, and we were thrilled to see the stunning creations that emerged from this workshop. Here are a few examples of the incredible mandalas crafted by Valerie and one of our gifted participants.
![Gratitude Mandala by Valerie Acosta A partially colored mandala with a gratitude theme. The intricate design features geometric and floral patterns, with sections filled in purple and green. Below the mandala, there’s a section titled “Today I am grateful for:” followed by handwritten notes expressing gratitude. A black pen rests on the paper above the mandala, and three colored pencils in shades of purple and green lie beside the paper. The image conveys a sense of mindfulness and creativity through coloring and reflection on gratitude.](https://cbaw.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Gratitude-Mandala-by-Valerie-Acosta.png)

The mandala is primarily in black ink with shaded areas to add depth, and it is drawn on a square piece of paper with a neutral background. The symmetrical design and detailed artwork make it visually appealing.](https://cbaw.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Gratitude-Mandala-by-Unnamed-Participant.png)
In addition to the workshop, we hosted a virtual table where summit attendees could learn more about CBAW and our mission. Our goal is to foster healing and connection through the arts by offering free, inclusive workshops that support veterans, healthcare workers, and the broader community.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Minority Veterans of America for inviting us to be part of this inspiring event. It was a pleasure to connect with so many wonderful individuals and share the joy of creating art together.
