Afghan Women Combat Veterans and their American Counterparts brought together
around art project at AllTru Gather 2022.
In partnership with Honor The Promise, Community Building Art Works had the immense honor to support the AllTru Gather Event 2022 held this past weekend in honor of those who lost their lives in the Global War on Terror.
CBAW offered a virtual writing program and in-person art making workshop to bring together American and Afghan Special Operations Forces (SOF) members to both inspire conversation and strengthen the mentor and mentee relationship as they explored home and journey. They were invited to use a paper mask as a canvas for a self-portrait through the landscapes of their collective and individual journeys. In creating this piece of work, these women considered the journey of where they come from, where they are today, and where they hope to be.
See photos taken at our workshop below and learn more about these incredible women here.
