No creative writing experience required! Join Community Building Art Works for our monthly community building creative writing workshop in partnership with Strathmore. March’s workshop will be led by Amelia Bane. Workshop begins promptly at 7 pm.
About the series: Led by accomplished authors, these generative workshops focus on the craft of writing as a tool for introspection, communication, and connection. Bring a pen, a notebook, and an open mind! Tickets are $25, and we appreciate any donation to support our programs. Your donation will fund similar workshops at military hospitals.
About the workshop: Join writer and comedian Amelia Bane for a generative workshop aimed at creating characters and situations that are absurd, surreal, creative, and oddly endearing. Whether you’re a veteran fiction writer or dabbling, you’ll leave this workshop with at least one scene written, and a sense of how to use what you already know about the world to create imaginative scenes.
About the writer: Bane is a writer, improviser, and stand-up comedian who performs with the team Hot Boss and tours with the variety show Brooklyn World Tour. She has trained at The Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, Second City, and The Groundlings Theater. Bane holds degrees in literature and film from William and Mary and Goddard College. She facilitates improv workshops with at-risk youth, veterans and service members in military hospitals, and corporate staff, using humor and spontaneity to teach emotional regulation and communication.
