No creative writing experience required! Join Community Building Art Works for our monthly community building creative writing workshop in partnership with Strathmore. February’s workshop will be led by Derrick Brown. Tickets can be found here.
February’s workshop will be located in the Strathmore Mansion. Doors at 6:30, workshop begins promptly at 7 pm.
About the series: Led by accomplished authors, these generative workshops focus on the craft of writing as a tool for introspection, communication, and connection. Bring a pen, a notebook, and an open mind! Tickets are $25, and we appreciate any donation to support our programs. Your donation will fund similar workshops at military hospitals.
About the author: Award-winning author and publisher Derrick C. Brown will lead this workshop on how to assess when you’re ready to get published, the inner workings of a publishing house every author should know, and how to beat writer’s block.
Brown is a novelist, comedian, poet, and storyteller. He is the winner of the 2013 Texas Book of The Year award for Poetry. He is a former paratrooper for the 82nd Airborne and is the owner and president of Write Bloody Publishing, which Forbes and Filter Magazine call “…one of the best independent poetry presses in the country.” He is the author of eight books of poetry and three children’s books. The New York Times calls his work, “…a rekindling of faith in the weird, hilarious, shocking, beautiful power of words.”
