This engaging session will demonstrate that anyone can write, as long as they show up and think. Author Seema Reza will explore writing as a powerful tool for communication, self-expression, and finding solace in the act of letting go. No prior experience is necessary!
Self-Guided Mindfulness Activities with Alli Houseworth

A serene journey into mindfulness and relaxation at your own pace. Seasoned yoga therapist and meditation instructor Alli Houseworth will be there to give you some tips.
Printmaking with Valerie Acosta

Veteran Artist Valerie Acosta will teach participants some fun and easy printmaking techniques that use recycled materials and various textures onto gel plates.
Woodcarving with Steve McCombs

A woodcarving session with Veteran Artist Steve McCombs that turns a piece of reclaimed wood into a work of art!
Collaborative Weaving with Leslie Renn
LOCATION: Small Gallery
SCHEDULED TIMES: 11 AM to 12 PM or 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM
Veteran Artist Leslie Renn will lead participants on a collaborative weaving project using various scrap fabrics, including military uniforms. Feel free to bring 2 to 3 scraps of fabric to contribute to this project.
Art Store and Activity with Plaza Art of Rockville
LOCATION: Dining Room

An art making activity led by Plaza Art of Rockville. Participants will also be able to purchase Art Supplies from Plaza’s pop-up shop!
Plein Air Pastels / Charcoal with Shaun Smith
LOCATION: Outdoors (Meet in Sun Porch)
SCHEDULED TIMES: 11 AM to 12 PM or 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM
In this pastel and charcoal drawing session with Veteran Artist Shaun Smith, participants will work on easels in an outdoor setting, provided the weather permits.
Papermaking with Kevin Basl, Eli Wright, and Joe Merritt
LOCATION: Sun Porch
SCHEDULED TIMES: 11 AM to 12 PM or 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM
Participants will have a chance to pull sheets of paper from pulp composed of military uniforms, all expertly guided by Veteran Artists Kevin Basl, Eli Wright, and Joe Merritt.
iRest Meditation with Alli Houseworth

Alli will guide participants through a series of gentle activities designed to calm the mind and soothe the spirit. Drawing from her extensive experience and heartfelt dedication to the military community, Alli’s session promises to be an oasis of peace in the midst of life’s challenges.

Join us for an afternoon of Improv with Comedian, Amelia Bane. Participants will learn simple theater games and exercises that stimulate their imagination and exercise creativity in a supportive atmosphere.

Rob Haney is an artist, writer, and graphic designer with a passion for making slick-looking and fun images that catch the eye and draw viewers in. Rob worked for over 10 years in retail banking and management in their previous life, before returning to school and earning an Associates of Arts with Honors from Rock Valley College in 2012. An early addict to Twitter, Rob enjoys liking and resharing cool stuff and interacting with people who hold similar interests on the internet. They currently are working on their degree in Graphic Design while creating social media content for clients. When not online, Rob writes and reads poetry, creates both physical and digital artwork, and watches British mystery shows.
